Viacom, Disney and Time Warner are a public companies and millions of investors are the owners (You can buy shares too if you have at least $40, $30 and $18 respectively)

The symbols are VIA, DIS and TWX.

Tom Freston CEO and President (Viacom)

Robert A. Iger CEO and President (Disney)

Richard D. Parsons CEO and Chairman (Time Warner)

Actually, millions of Americans own all these firms via stocks, mutual funds, retirement funds, endowments. So difficult to say, the CEO's have power but they do not own the company and there is no single .media outlet with majority power

The biggest shareholders are known people, Turner and Kurkorian (20% at most) in Time Warner.

The Disney family at Disney. Viacom is own by a french company, Vivendi Universal. Fox majority shareholder is Robert Murdoch.
