Question:
Are UPS drivers supposed to knock or ring the doorbell when delivering a package?

Lately, we've had quite a few deliveries from UPS and will be having even more in the future. So far, each time a package is delivered (variety of sizes) they literally throw the box onto the steps and leave without knocking or ringing the bell. It's quite frustrating since I can't be waiting at the window all day as I have things to do, and often the boxes are left out front until I happen to notice.

Is it normal for them to just simply leave the package without attempting to notify anyone inside of the delivery? I'm not expecting them to wait at the door for me but is it really asking too much that they ring the bell so I know to retrieve the package?

I'm expecting a package sometime today so we'll see if the pattern continues. If it does, is it worth my time calling to complain? Will it make a difference or am I stuck with this habit as long as I have the same driver?

Thanks.

at my house 90% of the time they ring/knock.

if you are expecting something important, why not put up an easily visible note telling the delivery person to please ring the doorbell.

Depending on who and where you're placing your order doesn't always offer the option of needing a signature. I do agree with putting a noticeable courtesy sign on the front door stating that you would like for the delivery driver to either ring the doorbell or knock on the door. My pet peeve is when they take it upon themselves to decide whether to leave my package or not. I'm actually in process of trying to find a doorbell sign specifically for deliveries or a company that will customize my request.

It depends on how the sender requested that the package get sent. If no signature is required, they don't have to knock on your door to let you know that you received a package. Next time that you receive a package, check the shipping label. You'll see it as one of the options. If these are packages from your friends/family, kindly ask them to ship it accordingly.

They don't knock at my house. You can look outside your door on the day it is delivered. If you don't want to keep checking outside your door, just check on the UPS website, it will tell you if it has been delivered then open your door and take it inside.
